La Jolla — Our Flagship Store
Our La Jolla location has grown into something pretty special over the decades. At our core, we’re still a full surfboard showroom filled with handmade boards and everything that keeps them in action—fins, leashes, traction pads, wax, and more.
Need a wetsuit? We carry a massive selection in all sizes and thicknesses. Into diving? Our dive section is stocked with top-tier masks, fins, and spearguns. Mitch also sells fishing licenses right at the front counter—and if you ask nicely, he may even point you toward a few secret spots.
We now rent out just about everything you need for an epic day on the coast: surfboards, masks, snorkels, wetsuits, boogie boards—you name it.
Mitch’s signature apparel line—hoodies, caps, tees, thick towels, and jackets—travels the globe on surf trips of every kind. Our women’s section has even landed in Vogue Editor’s Picks, featuring warm outerwear, breezy tops, swimwear, and uniquely designed wetsuits built for ocean athletes.
Our History
Back in the late ’60s, Mitch had a simple idea: make it easier for the next generation of surfboard builders to get the materials they needed. He opened the La Jolla shop in a space barely bigger than a walk-in closet—and it took off.
More than 50 years later, Mitch has helped educate and equip generations of board shapers, and the shop still stands as a hub for both locals and traveling surfers alike. Today, we’ve expanded to include diving gear, wetsuits, SUPs, skateboards, premium sunglasses, and a full lineup of Mitch’s outdoor wear for men, women, and kids.
And yes—we’re still right here on Pearl Street, open seven days a week.
